Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Ketic *nʲaˀnʲ ~ *nʲäˀnʲ (“bread”), itself a widespread loanword also found in neighbouring Uralic languages, ultimately borrowed from Classical Persian نان (nān, “bread, naan”).[1]
