Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Ketic *nʲaˀnʲ ~ *nʲäˀnʲ (bread), itself a widespread loanword also found in neighbouring Uralic languages, ultimately borrowed from Classical Persian نان (nān, bread, naan).[1]
