Etymology
Univerbation of на (na, “at”) + *тае (*tae, “secretly”). According to Bulgarian Etymological Dictionary, formed on the model of antonym ная́ве (najáve, “openly”) from a lost *tajь (“secret”), synchronically – an obsolete action noun of тая́ (tajá, “to keep in secret”).
