мѵ́ро • (míro) n inan (genitive мѵ́ра, uncountable)

1. Pre-1918 spelling of ми́ро (míro).

Before the spelling reforms of 1918, this was the only Russian word that was consistently written with the letter ѵ, и́жица (ížica, “izhitsa”), along with its derivatives. Some other words, like сѵно́дъ (sinód, “synod”), Сѵ́рія (Sírija, “Syria”), and ѵпоста́сь (ipostásʹ, “hypostasis, the being of Jesus Christ”), were also written with izhitsa, but more rarely.

In bolshevikian version of alphabet where letter izhitsa is eliminated, it is replaced with the modern spelling ми́ро (míro).
