• Identical to Etymology 1, derived via semantic shift “inlet (into a forest)” → “glade”;
• From the root of Russian лозг (lozg, “crack”), ложжи́ть (ložžítʹ, “to delve”);
• Akin to Latvian lēzs (“even, flat”), lēzа (“coastal lowland, lagoon”).

Bulgarian Etymological Dictionary tentatively supports the first hypothesis.
