Verb

  1. (transitive) to rake out, to shovel out (to remove or uncover by raking or shoveling)
  2. (transitive) to rake, to dig (:hole, trench, etc.)
  3. (intransitive) to row out, to paddle out (to propel oneself outwards over/through water by rowing or paddling)
  4. (intransitive, figuratively, slang) to get out of a tight spot, to worm one's way out (to escape a difficult situation)
