Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Yeniseian *ʌtseˤλ (“wild animal”), derived from Proto-Yeniseian *dˡɯkʌt (“upland forest, mountaineous forested plateau”) + Proto-Yeniseian *seλʌ (“reindeer”).[1] Alternatively, analyzable as a compound of лыʼт (lɨˀt, “hillock, upland forest”) + сель (sèlʲ, “reindeer”).
