Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Yeniseian *ʌtseˤλ (wild animal), derived from Proto-Yeniseian *dˡɯkʌt (upland forest, mountaineous forested plateau) + Proto-Yeniseian *seλʌ (reindeer).[1] Alternatively, analyzable as a compound of лыʼт (lɨˀt, hillock, upland forest) +‎ сель (sèlʲ, reindeer).
