Derived from Proto-Yeniseian *dʲuk ~ *juk (“Yug”, exonym) + Proto-Yeniseian *qim ~ *qem (“woman”).[1] Alternatively, analyzable as a compound of Юг (Júk ~ Jūk, “Yug man”) +‎ ӄим (qīm, “woman”).
