Мудри
Pannonian Rusyn
Etymology
From мудри (mudri, “wise, smart”). Cognate with Slovak Múdry.
Pronunciation
Proper noun
Мудри (Mudri) m pers (relational adjective Мудров or Мудрийов)
- a surname, feminine equivalent Мудрова (Mudrova)
Usage notes
- Certain Serbian linguistic authorities (such as the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Novi Sad as well as the Pedagogical Society of Vojvodina in "Jezici i Kulture u Vremenu i Prostoru VII/2", page 229) recommend that adjectival surnames not ending in -ски (-ski) or -цки (-cki) be declined purely with an adjectival declension, i.e. од Мудрого (od Mudroho). However, in practice, and likely due to the influence of -ски (-ski) / -цки (-cki)-class surnames, the noun declension is more common, i.e. од Мудрия (od Mudrija). Both are provided here, listing the noun declension first.
