Usage notes
- The exact grammatical status of this term is unclear. Of the two Rusyn dictionaries which record this term, they each provide a different gender and a different number. For Wiktionary, the 1995 dictionary declension will be provided. The 2010 dictionary suggests that there exists the form *Дзурю (*Dzurju) used after по (po, “after”), however this is not attested. The 2010 dictionary also suggests that the term is in genitive and in plural, which would fit the profile of a neuter noun *Дзурє (*Dzurje) in the nominative; however, the dictionary suggests it to be a masculine noun. On the other hand, pre- and postpositive adjectives used with the term are in the neuter singular, perhaps originally as an ellipsis of швето Дзуря (šveto Dzurja), although this phrase is still used from time to time. Regardless, the original nominative form, if exists, seems to have been lost to time.
- Searches in Pannonian Rusyn corpuses reveal that none of the declined forms are actually attested in writing. At least in modern writings from 2015 onwards, the term seems to have been treated effectively as indeclinable, e.g. на Дзуря (na Dzurja) instead of, say, на *Дзурйох (na *Dzurjox).
Declension
- As mentioned above, this term is largely treated as indeclinable in modern writings; thus this declension is largely theoretical.
