From Koine Greek στοιβάζω (stoibázō), itself from Ancient Greek στοιβή (stoibḗ, padding, stuffing, cushion) + -άζω (-ázō).[1] Stem στοι- by dissimilation from the related στείβω (steíbō, I tread).
