σικελικόν

Ancient Greek

Pronunciation

Adjective

σῐκελῐκόν • (sĭkelĭkón)

  1. alternative letter-case form of Σικελικόν (Sikelikón)

Descendants

Said to be the source of Middle Persian [script needed] (SLKʾ /šalgam/, turnip), itself the source of Classical Syriac ܫܠܓܡܐ (šalgəmā) and Persian شلغم (šalġam) and their descendants; but no dictionaries have been found that list turnip as a meaning of σικελικόν (sikelikón), not even the Byzantine dictionaries {{R:LBG}} and {{R:grc:Sophocles}}.
