Etymology

    Probably a Pre-Greek word, as per Furnée, who connects πέταχνον (pétakhnon, broad flat cup); also compare the suffix of λεκάνη (lekánē, dish, pot) and οὐράνη (ouránē, chamber-pot).[1]
