βορά
Ancient Greek
Etymology
By surface analysis, βιβρώσκω (bibrṓskō, “to eat”) + -η (-ē). The term may have been inherited from Proto-Hellenic *gʷorā́, itself perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *gʷorh₃éh₂,[1] whence also perhaps Latin vorō.[2]
