Etymology

From αἱμορροέω (haimorrhoéō, to lose blood) +‎ -ῐς (-ĭs), from αἱμο- (haimo-, blood) +‎ ῥέω (rhéō, to flow). Also serves as the feminine of αἱμόρροος (haimórrhoos, flowing with blood).
