Etymology

Inherited from Old Uyghur 𐽰𐽶𐽷𐽶 (ʾyky /⁠éki, iki⁠/), ultimately from Proto-Turkic *ẹk(k)i.

Metathesized form of iʂgi, where the gemination present in Proto-Turkic and Late Old Uyghur stages gave way to a *-kk- > -ʂg- sound shift.
