ŵanyina
Tumbuka
Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Bantu *bànìnà.
Noun
ŵanyina class 2
- plural of nyina (“mother”).
Usage notes
Mateyu 14:26 in the New Tumbuka Bible shows that the plural form of the noun can be used to refer to one mother (i.e. that plurality of respect happens with this noun - thus that "her mother" can be translated as ŵanyina and not nyina).
