From Proto-Athabaskan *lἀx̣-quʼ, equivalent to łah (“once, sometimes, at one time”) + -go (adverbial suffix). Compare Ahtna tsʼiłghuxu, Lower Tanana ts'iɬghw, though the Navajo lacks the initial tsʼ-.
