Literally, “eat the grape and do not ask its vineyard”. The saying is attested as early as 1394, as Old Anatolian Turkish یِی اُوزم بَاغِی سُورْمَاغِلْ (yé üzüm bāġı sormaġıl, “eat grape and do not ask the vineyard”).
