Zoran Stevanović (born 23 February 1982 in Kranj) is a Slovenian politician and the president of the extra-parliamentary party Resni.ca.[1]

Life and education

He obtained a master’s degree in management from the University of Primorska.[2] He enrolled in a PhD program at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana but did not complete it.[3] He completed secondary education at the Police Secondary School in Tacen and worked as a police officer for eleven years.

Protests against COVID-19 measures

In September 2021, the first protest organized by Stevanović against the government's COVID-19 restrictions took place. On Tuesday, 21 September, approximately 8,000 people gathered at Republic Square in Ljubljana.[4] The protests continued, and on 29 September, protesters marched through Ljubljana, where police used a water cannon and tear gas.[5] On 5 October, similar events unfolded, and Stevanović was reportedly detained by police.[6] Protests continued in the following weeks, including 27 October, spreading to other parts of Slovenia. Protesters demanded the resignation of the government and the abolition of all COVID-19 measures.[7][8]

President Borut Pahor invited Stevanović to a meeting in the presidential palace to discuss the protests and call for non-violence.[9]
