Yin Zonghua (Chinese: 尹宗华; born August 1964) is a Chinese economist and government official who currently serves as a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of its Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese. He previously served in several senior positions within the Ministry of Commerce, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.[1]

Biography

Yin Zonghua was born in Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province, in August 1964. He began working in August 1984 and holds a postgraduate degree, including a doctorate in economics from Nankai University. From 1984 to 1993, Yin served in various capacities within the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade, including the Department of International Liaison, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations.[2] Between 1993 and 2006, he successively held posts such as Deputy Division Director and Division Director of the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations, deputy director (vice-departmental level) of the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges, and Deputy Director-General of both the Department of Foreign Trade and the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations.[3]

In August 2006, Yin was appointed Minister-Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Mission of China to the European Union, a position of full department-director rank. He returned to the Ministry of Commerce in 2011 as Director-General of the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations, later serving as Director-General of the Department of WTO Affairs and concurrently Director of the China WTO Notification and Inquiry Center.[4]

From 2014 to 2019, Yin served as Vice Chairman and a Party Leadership Group Member of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).[5] In March 2019, he became deputy director of the CPPCC Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese. He was appointed deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in March 2021, serving until November 2025.[6][7]
