Winc is a workplace suppies company operating in Australia supplying office essentials, furniture, safety equipment and IT solutions with 30,000 products in stock. [1][2] This includes office products, copy paper, education supplies, art & craft, cleaning & hygiene, furniture[3], kitchen essentials, packaging & mailroom supplies, health & safety, technology[4] and IT solutions.

The company was previously known as Staples[5] and Corporate Express. Winc Australia operates across all states and territories and also includes Business Interiors, which is a premium office design division for corporate fit-outs.

The company focuses  on supporting businesses to be more productive and successful through the supply of a broad range of products and services that a workplace needs. Industries served include professional services[6], retail[7], government[8], schools[9], early learning[10], hospitals and allied health[11], aged care[12], facilities management[13] and industrial[14]. Customers include large enterprise, government organisations, not-for-profits, schools and small to medium sized businesses.

History

The Winc brand was launched in September 2017. It stands for Work Incorporated.[15] The new brand was created in conjunction with Platinum Equity after it completed the acquisition of the Staples business in Australia in April 2017.[16] In February 2018, Platinum Equity also completed the acquisition of the OfficeMax business in Australia.[17][18]

Social Agenda

Winc created its first Social Agenda in September 2021 which formalised the company's commitments in the areas of Safe Work Practices, First Nations Peoples’ Support & Empowerment, Climate Change, Responsible Packaging & Waste Management, Gender Equality and Ethical Sourcing. Progress reports are published twice yearly. By 2030, Winc's goal includes using only 100% renewable energy at Winc sites, diverting 90% of all waste from landfill and reducing Scope 1 carbon emissions by 55% compared to 2021 levels. [19]

Mandura, a First Nations owned and controlled workplace supplies company and joint venture with Winc, was created in partnership with Awabakal Worimi Scott Allen in September 2021. Mandura donates 20% of profits to the Pauline E. McLeod Foundation to support programs in the areas of First Nations mental health, education and employment.

Winc published its fifth Reconciliation Action Plan in 2022 [20]and focused on the company's support of First Nations businesses to increase their representation in the Winc supply chain thereby supporting customers to contribute to sustainable and meaningful change within the First Nations community.

Services

Winc provides a range of services in addition to supplying products. These include workspace design, furniture and technology solutions as well as managed print and promotional marketing services [23] Key service offerings include:

  • Furniture Solutions

Winc offers end-to-end furniture project services, including procurement, on-site assembly, and furniture fit-outs. It also provides end-of-life furniture assessments and product stewardship programs in partnership with suppliers, as well as flexible financing options. [24]

 

  • Technology Solutions

Winc’s technology solutions cover the full life cycle of IT assets: from planning and procurement through to deployment, configuration and e-waste management in partnership with suppliers. [25]  It offers national logistics and delivery and both pre-sales and post-sales technical support.

  • Managed Print Services

Winc’s managed print services are intended to reduce printing costs, improve workflow efficiency, and enhance document management. The services cover printing hardware supply, electronic content management, 3D printing solutions, scanning and workflow tools, and automated consumables replenishment. [26]

  • Print & Marketing Solutions

Winc offers print and marketing material for campaigns and events, bespoke merchandise and custom packaging solutions. It also supports managed warehouse programs for stock of marketing or promotional items [27]
