William Bunting (mayor)

William Bunting (1859–1912) was an American politician. He served as the first mayor of Pawnee Rock, Kansas. He was elected on April 1, 1887, and was one of the first elected officials in Barton County, Kansas.

1887 election

The town of Pawnee Rock was incorporated in 1887, with the first local election held that year. Two opposing factions formed, separated by their conflicting views on the legality of pool rooms in Barton County. Bunting was elected alongside 5 councilmen.[1][2]
