William Frank Banfield (born November 18, 1999) is an American professional baseball catcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization. He made his MLB debut in 2025.
Career
Miami Marlins
Banfield attended Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. He was selected by the Miami Marlins in the second round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft.[1]
Cincinnati Reds
Banfield signed with the Cincinnati Reds organization prior to the 2025 season. He played in 72 games for the Triple-A Louisville Bats, hitting .220/.277/.304 with two home runs and 23 RBI. On August 20, 2025, Banfield was selected to the 40-man roster and promoted to the major leagues for the first time.[2] He made seven appearances for the Reds during his rookie campaign, going 1-for-10 (.100). On November 21, Banfield was non-tendered by Cincinnati and became a free agent.[3]
On December 2, 2025, Banfield re-signed with the Reds organization on a minor league contract.[4]
