The Western Region of Uganda is one of four regions in the country of Uganda.[1] As of Uganda's 2014 census, the Western region's population was 8,874,862.[2]

Geography
The Western Region borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo in the west and the Northern tip of Rwanda as well as Tanzania in the South.
It is home to the Banyakitara i.e Banyoro, Batooro, Babwisi, Songora people, Banyankore, Bakiga. And Bakonzo, Bamba, Bafumbira, e.t.c

Western Uganda has various tourist attractions and breathtaking scenery, making it one of the best regions to visit while on a visit in Uganda. Uganda is home to some of the best tourist attractions on the African continent, and some of these are located in western Uganda, which is divided into different regions.[19]
- Bwindi impenetrable National Park is found in the south western Uganda it is populary known for Mountain Gorillas. You will not only get to see Mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, but you will also get to see other attractions within the National Park which include tree species, primates like chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, bird species, wildlife like forest elephants, bush pigs, forest hogs and visit the local communities. Goriila treking[20] is the main activity carried out at Bwindi national Park[21]. The park is located over three districts: Kanungu, Rubanda and Kisoro District.[22]
- Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park is a popular tourist attraction that is found in the western part of Uganda and this is the second largest National Park in the country and one of the oldest. The National Park is made up of wetlands, woodlands, savannah plains and forests which make up the best ecosystem. Tourists visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park can engage in different safari activities, and these include boat rides along the Kazinga Channel, game drives, bird watching, chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge, a visit to the Katwe salt mines and guided nature walks, among others. [23] The park is located in the Kasese district, and also covers Rubirizi, Kanungu, and Kamwengye districts. It also boarders the Democractic republic of Congo.[24][25]
- Mgahinga National Park. This is the smallest National park located in the south western Uganda in Kisoro District. It was founded in 1991. The Park also is a home of Mountain gorillas another one being Bwindi impenetrable National Park. The Park is also blessed with a unique primate known as the golden monkey which can also be found in Volcano National Park. Mgahinga is also blessed with unique features like Mount Sabinyo and Mount Muhavura which are situated in the Virunga Ranges which cut into Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.[26] [27]
- kibale Forest National Park. Kibale Forest National Park is located in the District of Kibale. Its one of the best places to visit when on a visit in Uganda. Its best for Chimpanzee treking and has the largest number and diversity in East Africa. The forest stands on the area land cover of 795km2 with the most beautiful and most diversified tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda.[28] [29]
