Walburga Hemetsberger
Walburga Hemetsberger is a lawyer and since 2019 CEO of SolarPower Europe,[1] an association of the European solar photovoltaics sector.[2]
In 2025 she won the Becquerel Prize for Outstanding Merits in Photovoltaics recognising her as one of the most important ambassadors for solar energy in Europe.[1][3]
Life and career
Hemetsberger studied law as well as social and economic sciences at the University of Innsbruck.[1] She worked for the Brussels office of the Austrian energy company VERBUND before taking on the role as CEO of the industry organisation SolarPower Europe in 2019.[4]
In her role as the CEO of SolarPower Europe she has advocated for increased efforts to achieve gender parity within the organisation and in the wider renewable energy sector.[5]
