W. H. Logan was an American farmer, preacher, teacher and politician in the Arkansas Delta. He served in the Arkansas Senate from 1887 to 1891.[2] He was born in Ohio in the first half of the 1850s. During his career he served as a justice of the peace, preacher, teacher, and farmer.[3]
Loagan represented Arkansas Senate District 15 which included parts of Chicot and Desha counties He was a Republican.[2]
During his time in the Arkansas Senate, Logan served during the post-Reconstruction period, when Republican officeholders in the Arkansas Delta were increasingly rare. His election reflected the continued, though declining, influence of Republican politics in parts of southeastern Arkansas during the late nineteenth century. As a state senator, he focused on local concerns affecting rural communities, including agriculture, education, and public order.
Outside of politics, Logan remained active in his local community through his work as a preacher and teacher. Like many rural leaders of the era, he combined religious leadership with civic responsibilities, serving as a justice of the peace while maintaining his livelihood as a farmer. His career illustrates the overlapping roles often held by local political figures in the Arkansas Delta during this period.[4][5][6]
