Vertigo is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
The character made her live-action debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe miniseries Agatha All Along, portrayed by Okwui Okpokwasili.
Publication history
She first appeared in Fantastic Four #186, and was created by Len Wein and George Pérez.
Fictional character biography
Vertigo was a member of the group of witches known as Salem's Seven led by Nicholas Scratch. She is the daughter of Scratch, and granddaughter of Agatha Harkness.
Wizard reformed the Frightful Four using Gazelle, Reptilla, and Vertigo and they attacked Chicago to get the attention of Mister Fantastic. Mister Fantastic was almost defeated by the Frightful Four until Scarlet Witch appeared to help him.[1]
She was killed in the explosion of magical forces caused by the Scarlet Witch that destroyed New Salem.[2] Later, Vertigo and the rest of the Seven were eventually resurrected and began living peacefully in New Salem.[3]
Powers and abilities
Vertigo is capable of wielding magic on par with the rest of the New Salemites. In addition, she is able to induce debilitating vertigo and nausea. This ability was augmented and amplified by the Wizard.
In other media
Vertigo appears in Agatha All Along, portrayed by Okwui Okpokwasili.[4] She leads Salem's Seven in search of Agatha Harkness until they encounter Lilia Calderu, who kills them by inverting gravity and impaling them on swords.[5]
