Location of the Tunan River in Indonesia.

Tunan River is a river located in Indonesia. Flowing in the province of East Kalimantan, in the central part of the country, 1,200 km east of the country's capital Jakarta. This river empties into the Makassar Strait.[1]

This river is projected to become an ecotourism area and a buffer conservation area for Nusantara, a candidate for the new capital of Indonesia, and also a planned city. It is also home to the proboscis monkey (bekantan), a long-nosed primate endemic to Kalimantan. According to research by Mulawarman University, there are around 17 groups with a population of 200 in the area.[2]
