Top Albania Radio (TAR ) is a national private radio station based in Tirana, Albania. It began broadcasting on 14 February 1998.[1] The station is part of the Top Media Group, which also includes Top Channel television and the DigitAlb pay per view platform. [2]
History
The station was founded by Dritan Hoxha,[3] and marked its 25th anniversary in 2023.[4]
In 2000, Top Albania Radio received a national broadcasting license, allowing its signal to reach about 95% of Albania’s territory.[5] At the time, the station employed mainly younger staff, and several individuals later continued their careers on television. Programs broadcast in this period included Good Morning Albania, Një këngë për ty (A Song for You), and Disco Lancio, some of which remain on air. From 2002, the station increased its news coverage, transmitting up to 19 bulletins per day. [5]
Programming consists of Albanian and international music, together with news updates, talk shows, and other entertainment formats. One of its long-running shows is Wake Up, a morning talk and news program.[6]
Top Albania Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day within Albania and is also accessible internationally through its official website. [7]
