The Rip is an upcoming American action thriller film written and directed by Joe Carnahan who developed the story with Michael McGrale. The film stars Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell, and Lina Esco.
The Rip is scheduled to be released by Netflix on January 16, 2026.
Premise
A group of Miami cops discovers a stash of millions in cash, leading to distrust as outsiders learn about the huge seizure, making them question who to rely on.

Production
The film was first announced in June 2024 with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck would star. The film is written and directed by Joe Carnahan,[2] who also developed the story with Michael McGrale.[1] Damon and Affleck are also producing the film at Artists Equity.[2] Shortly after the project had been shopped around for a buyer, Netflix purchased the rights to distribute the film.[3] In October 2024, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Néstor Carbonell, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Kyle Chandler joined the cast.[4][5] In November 2024, Scott Adkins and Lina Esco joined the cast.[6][7]
Principal photography began on October 3, 2024, in Los Angeles, and was expected to wrap on December 11.[8][9][10] Additional scenes were also shot in New Jersey in November.[11] Juanmi Azpiroz served as the cinematographer.[12]
Release
The Rip is scheduled to release on January 16, 2026, on Netflix.[13]
