The Mummy: Dark Stories (ザ・マミーMUMMYダークストーリーズ, Za mamī MUMMY dākusutōrīzu) is a Japanese manga series written by Yutori Hōjō as a tie-in to the 2017 film The Mummy.[2] The Comic Smart syndicate published the manga on GANMA!'s website.[1] It was released from July 15 to July 29, 2017, and consists of four chapters ("episodes"). Set in London as it is suddenly engulfed by a sandstorm caused by Ahmanet during her escape from Prodigium, seen in the film itself, and the dead rise from beneath the earth, the story details the lives of several residents of London seeking shelter from her and her forces.[3][4]
The manga received a positive critical reception.[5][6]

The story consists of four one-shot manga "episodes" set in London as it is suddenly engulfed by a sandstorm caused by Ahmanet, with the first part beginning just as the dead rise from beneath the earth, and the secret organisation Prodigium seeks to stop her.
In the second part, Doris, a historian majoring in Egyptology and a university lecturer, is continuing the research of her predecessor in a devotion to studying the Egyptian god of deaths Set and Ahmanet. However, the content of the "heretical" research is seen as unbelievable, with only one student, Din, attending the university lecture. One day, while Doris is doing research in the library, they feel an eerie gaze as if being watched by someone... What is the fate of the hero who approaches the secrets of Ahmanet and Set?!!?
In the third part, Aaron, a subway driver who is tired of boring everyday life, is driving the train as usual when they receive an emergency call from the railway headquarters, informing them to pull off an emergency stop due to a collapsing building caused by a sandstorm on the ground above. While preparing to stop, a figure suddenly appears on the track in the direction of the course, leading Aaron to step on the brakes in a hurry, only for the figure to be swallowed by the light of the train. What did he truly see at that time...? The episode is set in the London Underground.
The fourth and final installment of the manga was released on July 29, 2017.
Background
The manga has a stronger focus on the Dark Universe shared universe franchise setup (such as monster-hunting organization Prodigium) than the film.[7] There are several new revelations regarding the nature and biology of the titular mummy, Ahmanet.[2]
