The Millennium Project is a think tank that publishes a State of the Future report.[2] The Millennium Project released the 20th edition of its "State of the Future" report in September 2024.[3] In November 2025, a Spanish-language edition of State of the Future 20.0 titled Estado del Futuro 20.0 was published in collaboration with the Bolivian university Unifranz, translated by Concepción Olavarrieta and Guillermo Gándara.[4][5] In November 2025, the Italian edition of "State of the Future 20.0" was released in collaboration with the Italian Institute for the Future.[6]

In 2001 it was associated with the American Council for the United Nations University.[7] By 2007 it had become a part of the World Federation of United Nations Associations[8] By 2009 it had become independent.[2] The Millennium Project operates through a global network of over 70 "Nodes," which are groups of institutions and individuals that connect local and global perspectives.[9] In June 2025, Professor Sirkka Heinonen of the Finland Futures Research Centre was elected to the organization's Board of Directors.[10]
