Syed Shahid Mahdi is a former Indian civil servant and academician who served as the 11th vice-chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, from 2000 to 2004.[1][2]
He was a 1963 batch IAS officer and was allotted the Bihar cadre.[3] After retiring from the post of vice-chancellor, Mahdi served as the vice-president of Indian Council for Cultural Relations.[4][5]
