St. Peter's College, Gampaha Branch (Sinhala: සාන්ත පීතර විදුහල, ගම්පහ ශාඛාව Tamil: புனித பேதுரு கல்லூரி, கம்பஹா கிளை) is a boys and girls primary to secondary (inclusive) and was a branch school of St Peter's College, Colombo. It is located in the Udugampola zone of Minuwangoda, Sri Lanka, and was founded on 2 February 1993. Even though the school is located in Gampaha district, St. Peter's College, Gampaha belongs to the Minuwangoda educational Zone.
History
St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04 – Gampaha Branch, is a co-educational institution that provides primary to secondary education. It was initially established as a branch of St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04, and has since grown into a distinguished academic institution. The school is located in Udugampola, Minuwangoda, Sri Lanka, and belongs to the Minuwangoda Educational Zone, despite being situated within the Gampaha District.
Founded on 2nd of February 1993, St. Peter’s College, Gampaha Branch, was first housed within the Holy Cross Church premises, commonly referred to as “Gal Palliya.” The establishment of the branch school was a significant initiative spearheaded by the then Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, Most Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis, under the patronage of the then Archbishop of Colombo, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Nicholas Marcus Fernando and Very Rev. Fr. Joe. E. Wickremasinghe the Rector of St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04. Their vision was to extend the legacy of Catholic education to the Gampaha region, fostering academic excellence and moral development among students.
Over the years, the school has grown into a well-respected institution known for its commitment to holistic education, emphasizing both academic achievements and character formation. It upholds the rich traditions and values of its parent institution, St. Peter’s College, Colombo 04, while fostering a strong sense of community, discipline, and leadership among its students.
