Spin Move Records is an independent record label based in Santa Monica, California. Founded in 1996 by Peter A. Barker and later relaunched with Marc Schrobilgen, the label has released music by artists including singer-songwriters Amy Kuney and Ainjel Emme and pop artist Rochelle Diamante.[1][2][3] The label is owned by Threshold Media Corp.[4]

History

Spin Move Records was established in 1996 in Santa Monica, California, with Barker as founder; Schrobilgen joined during the label’s later relaunch and expansion.[1] Early output included the self-titled album by Winsome Kin (1996).[5]

In the late 2000s the label released Amy Kuney’s debut full-length Bird’s Eye View (2008), crediting Spin Move as the issuing label.[2] In 2011, Spin Move issued Ainjel Emme’s Everyone Is Beautiful, recorded partly at Threshold Sound + Vision in Santa Monica.[3] Spin Move’s roster has also included pop vocalist Rochelle Diamante, whose single “Queen Bee” (2012) later appeared on multiple episodes of Dancing with the Stars.[6][7][8]

In 2010, Threshold Media (Spin Move’s parent company) filed a lawsuit related to the documentary film Catfish over the use of Spin Move artist Amy Kuney’s recording “All Downhill From Here,” identifying Spin Move Records as owned by Threshold.[4]
