Sirasa Catchpoint is a Sri Lankan physical quiz game show on Sirasa TV. It premiered on 12 July 2025.[1] It is the first Asian adaptation of British game show Catchpoint, originally broadcast by BBC One.[2] The Sri Lankan version is produced by Sirasa TV under license from ITV Studios and is hosted by actor Yash Weerasinghe.[3][4]

Format

The show features two teams of two contestants who answer general knowledge and observation-based questions. The answers are displayed on LED panels across a game stage. For each question, balls drop from trapdoors above the correct answer positions. Contestants must run, position themselves correctly, and catch the ball as it falls in order to score points. The team with the highest score at the end proceeds to the final round for a chance to win a grand cash prize.

The program includes a variety of different rounds.

  • In Solo Catch rounds, players must pick the correct answer from ten options. A pink ball signifies a correct choice, while a blue one denotes an incorrect answer. Catching any ball will secure points regardless.
  • Double Catch rounds include smaller balls and fewer answer options than Solo Catch, demanding sharper focus and teamwork.
  • In Quick Catch rounds, teams are expected to answer as many questions as possible within a timeframe of 45 seconds.
  • The Final Round sees only the leading team face two final questions for the chance to win or double their cash prize. Failing to answer both questions correctly forfeits all winnings.[5]

Production

Sirasa Catchpoint is filmed at the Stein Studios complex in Ratmalana, with a custom-built game stage. The set design takes inspiration from that of the original UK version.
