The Sheepshead Bay Houses is a NYCHA housing complex with 18 six-story residential buildings that are located between Avenue V to X and also between Nostrand Avenue to Batchelder Street in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn.[2] It is also located next to the Nostrand Houses Housing Complex also owned by NYCHA that has $400M renovation project upcoming with many upgrades.[3] It was named by its neighborhood itself.
History
Before the housing complex had started construction, it had attracted millionaires in the 19th century and the Sheepshead Bay Racetrack was located there that was built in 1880 primarily for horse racing, then it had changed to for cars, and then shuttered due to bankruptcy.[4]
These buildings were completed on the former Sheepshead Bay Racetrack on August 1950.[4]
