Shaikha Al Nowais is an Emirates born diplomat who is the Secretary-General designate of UNWTO aka UN Tourism.

Life

In 2025 she was chosen to succeed Zurab Pololikashvili as the Secretary-General of UNWTO.[2] She will be the first woman to hold this position if her name is ratified by the UN General Council/[1] Her appointment was lauded by the UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a victory for the Emirates.[3]

In October 2025 she was with Rebeca Grynspan at UNCTAD16[4] in Geneva.[5]
