Sarah Hollenstein Career and Technology Center (commonly known as the Hollenstein Career and Technology Center or HCTC) is a public career and technical education campus located in Fort Worth, Texas. Operated by the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District (EMS ISD), the center provides district-wide career and technical education (CTE) programs for high school students enrolled across EMS ISD campuses.[1]

The center known for its engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, and workforce development programs, as well as for student achievements in state and national competitions.[2]

History

The campus website states that the Hollenstein Career and Technology Center was established in 2011 through the district's 2009–2010 bond program.[3] A bond-program background page lists the center among projects associated with the district's 2006 and 2008 bond programs.[4]

Campus

HCTC serves secondary students from all EMS ISD high schools who are enrolled in career and technical education programs.[5]

Namesake

The Hollenstein Career is named for Sarah Hollenstein, who served on the EMS ISD Board of Education after being elected in 1999 and serving through July 2009, including roles as board president and secretary, according to the campus namesake page.[6]

Architecture and design awards

The Fort Worth chapter of the American Institute of Architects listed the Hollenstein Career and Technology Center as a Merit Award recipient in its annual Excellence in Architecture Design Awards.[7][8]

SME PRIME manufacturing education

In 2019, the SME Education Foundation published a profile of the center's manufacturing engineering program in connection with the SME PRIME initiative.[9] In 2023, Manufacturing News listed Hollenstein Career and Technology Center among schools receiving SME PRIME sustainability awards for 2022.[10]
