The 12393 / 12394 Sampoorna Kranti Superfast Express is a daily superfast express train service, which runs between Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patna in Bihar and New Delhi in Delhi. The service began running on 16 February 2002 and is one of the fastest train services in India. It is also called Aam Janta Ki Rajdhani [Common Man's Rajdhani].

Traversing the 1,001 km (622 mi) distance in under 12 hours, puts it with likes of Patna Tejas Rajdhani Express, Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, Agartala Rajdhani Express, Howrah Rajdhani Express. It is the fastest daily running superfast express train of Indian Railways, with an average speed of 82.27 km/h (51.12 mph), which is the same as the Rajdhani Express (A minimum speed of 55 km/h (34 mph) is required for a train to be categorized as superfast). It gets the highest priority on its entire route. As of October 2025, its time table is scheduled to overtake 23+ premium and non-premium trains like Shramjeevi SF, Magadh Express, Vikramshila Express, Bhagalpur Garib Rath Express, Jaynagar Garib Rath Express, Varanasi Mahamana Express, Marudhar Express etc on respective days (It may be noted that 23 scheduled overtakes have been planned for this train operating on the Indian Railways network as part of the regular passenger train services. Special trains operating during specific events are not included in this count.).[1] As mentioned above this train is also known as "Aam Janta ki Rajdhani" as its fare is less than that of Rajdhani Express but matches it in speed and punctuality (as it has same average speed as of Patna Rajdhani Express Between Patna Jn and New Delhi). Even it is quicker than few Premier Rajdhani Express Trains on Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction–New Delhi section.

History

The train is named in memory of the Sampoorna Kranti, that began in Bihar.

At the very starting years of this train it ran with coach composition of 24 Vintage Blue ICF Coaches, which made this only train at that time. It doesn't have any stops between New Delhi and Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna Junction), and it was the only train at that time of Indian Railways.

It was initially hauled by WAP-4 Locomotive, and this was the only train non-AC ICF train to run at 115 Kmph at that of Indian Railways.

Service

The train makes only FOUR stops between Patna and New Delhi: at Kanpur Central, Mirzapur, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction and Ara Junction. The train is hauled by WAP-7. It has LHB coach. It is now operated on HOG system in which the power to coaches is provided directly from locomotive instead of EOGs (power cars). It is the first Superfast train in India to have a LHB rake and not only this, during its run with ICF coach it ran with the maximum length permitted in Indian Railway of 24 coaches with a speed of 115 Kmph and which made this only non-AC train of Indian Railways at that time.It is the most prioritised non-AC train of Indian Railways in terms of clearance. It is the pride of ECR and does speeds of 130 km/hour[2] from 8 August 2015.

This train has many firsts to its name-

  • 1st Train to run with 24 Blue ICF Coaches.
  • 1st Non-AC Superfast train to get LHB coach.
  • 1st Non-AC Superfast train to run at a maximum speed of 130 Km/h.
  • Only ICF non-AC train to run at 115 Kmph at that time.
  • Only train other than Duronto Express to have no stops in between source and destination stations at that time.
