Saleh Malaikah

Saleh Malaikah (Arabic: صالح جميل ملائكة‎; born 1960) is a Saudi businessman, Investor, and economist noted for his involvement in Islamic finance and Takaful. He is the founder and chairman of Rusd Holding Group.^[3][4]

Malaikah was born in Saudi Arabia and spent part of his early life in Cairo, Egypt. He earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and an MBA from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), followed by a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Michigan State University.^[5]

He began his career as an associate professor of finance and investment at KFUPM.^[6] He later served as CEO of Al Baraka Investment and Development and as chairman of Al-Tawfeek Company for Investment Funds.^[7][8]

In 2002, he established Rusd Investment Bank in Malaysia, aiming to promote Shariah-compliant financial services in Gulf and Southeast Asian markets.^[9] Malaikah has held leadership roles in various Takaful-related companies,^[10] including serving as chairman of subsidiaries under Salama – Islamic Arab Insurance Company and BEST Re.^{[11][12][13][14]}

He has also chaired Taajeer Group and served on the boards of various organizations, such as METLICO, Alawwal Capital, and Taajeer Finance.^{[15][16][17][18][19]}

Malaikah has been an advocate for Takaful and Islamic insurance. He has delivered keynote addresses at various international forums and supported the growth of Shariah-compliant insurance across regions such as the UAE and Malaysia.^{[20][21][22][23]}

Malaikah has received several industry accolades, including the Takaful Leader of the Year (2007), Outstanding Contribution to Takaful (2009), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from LARIBA.^[24][25][26]

Malaikah has one son and four daughters, including Saudi Filmmaker Lina Malaika.

He survived the plane crash of EgyptAir Flight 843 in 2002.^[27]

In 2019, Malaikah was referred to the Dubai Penal Court over financial disputes related to his tenure at Salama. He was cleared of all charges in 2025.^[28][29]
