Salahuddin Sumon (born 28 December 1984) is a Bangladeshi journalist and YouTube content creator known for his travel documentaries and digital storytelling.[1] He gained public recognition for his transition from mainstream television journalism to independent digital media. His work focuses on culture, history, and social life in different countries.[2][3]
Early life and education
Sumon was born on 28 December 1984 in Bogra District in Bangladesh. His father's name is Md. Sekender Ali, and his mother's name is Meherun Nesa. He studied Mass Communication and Journalism at the University of Rajshahi, where he completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. During his university years, he became involved in journalism and began reporting for national newspapers.[4]
Career
He started his professional career as a university correspondent for The Daily Bhorer Kagoj. Later he worked as a divisional correspondent for Desh TV, covering news from the Rajshahi division. In 2011, he joined Somoy Television, where he worked for more than a decade and became a special correspondent. During this period, he covered major national and international events. He also worked as a freelance broadcast journalist for BBC News Bangla.[5][6]
In 2021, Sumon left television journalism and began working full-time as a digital content creator. He launched travel documentaries on YouTube and Facebook under his own name. His content combines journalistic research with travel storytelling and focuses on cultural heritage and social narratives.[7] His travel content gained wide popularity among Bengali-speaking audiences at home and abroad.[8][9]
