Sa Đéc is a ward of Đồng Tháp province, Việt Nam.[1] This is a newly established ward after Plan to arrange and merge administrative units in Vietnam 2024–2025.
Administrative history
Before the Plan to arrange and merge administrative units in Vietnam 2024–2025, Sa Đéc ward was a provincial city of Đồng Tháp province.
On June 12, 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam issued Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units, Tiền Giang province was merged into Đồng Tháp province.
On June 16, 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam issued No. 1663/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Đồng Tháp province. Accordingly:
- Merge the entire area and population size of communes and wards: Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, ward 4, An Hoà, Tân Quy Đông, Tân Quy Tây, Tân Khánh Đông into a new ward named Sa Đéc ward.
- Merge the entire area and population size of the communes Tân Dương, Hoà Thành of the old Lai Vung district, Tân Phú Đông of the old Sa Đéc city into a new ward named Tân Dương commune.
Geography
Sa Đéc ward has the following geographical location:
- To the east, it borders Bình Thạnh, Mỹ Hiệp (separated by Tiền river)
- To the north, it borders Bình Hàng Trung communes (separated by Tiền river)
- The south borders Tân Phú Trung commune; a small part of the southeast corner borders Phú Hựu commune
- West borders Tân Dương commune
