Sıla Uzunçavdar is a Turkish taekwondo practitioner who competes in the 53 kg division.[1]

Career

Uzunçavdar first appeared internationally in the cadet division, winning a bronze medal at the 2021 Turkish Open (−41 kg). She rose rapidly through the youth categories and claimed her first international titles in 2022, winning gold at the Turkish Open and silver at the Sweden Open in the −55 kg cadet class. She placed fifth at the 2022 World Cadet Championships in Sofia.[2]

In 2023, she secured three international gold medals at the WT Presidents Cup Europe, Sofia Open, and Turkish Open, along with bronze at the 2023 European Youth Taekwondo Championships in Tallinn and silver at the Balkan Cup in Sarajevo.

During 2024, Uzunçavdar continued her success by winning the Turkish Open, Skopje Open, and European Clubs Championships (all in the −55 kg youth division). She earned a bronze medal in the women's 52 kg event at the 2024 World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Chuncheon, South Korea, after reaching the semifinals and losing to Yinuo Xu of China.[3] Later the same year, she became the European U21 champion by winning the women's −53 kg category at the 2024 European U21 Taekwondo Championships held in Sarajevo.[4]

At the 2025 World U21 Taekwondo Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, Uzunçavdar advanced to the final in the women's 53 kg event. She was defeated 2–1 by Mobina Nematzadeh of Iran, earning the silver medal and her first world podium at U21 level.[5]

Personal life

Uzunçavdar is a student at Maltepe Uğur Schools on a full athletic scholarship. She has won multiple national championships at youth level in Turkey.[6]
