Vincent Stewart, codenamed Redneck and later Skybolt is a fictional mutant character in the Marvel Comics Universe.
Publication history
His first appearance was in New X-Men #126 by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely.
Fictional character biography
Vincent Stewart, also known as Redneck, is a mutant from Arkansas who experienced anti-mutant violence firsthand before becoming a student at the Xavier Institute. Sometime after, Redneck joins Quentin Quire's gang of mutants, dubbed the Omega Gang. The Omega Gang attack a small group of humans to avenge the death of mutant fashion designer Jumbo Carnation.[1][2]
After he and the Omega Gang start a riot at the Xavier Institute, Redneck is sent to prison and sentenced to charity work overseas after he is released.[3][2]
Redneck loses his powers after the events of M-Day along with countless other mutants. He is offered membership in the New Warriors under the name Skybolt, utilizing a flight suit and weaponry based on the designs of the Beetle and the Turbo suit to replace his lost powers.[4][5][2] Skybolt is later killed along with Ripcord.[6]
Powers and abilities
Using a suit and weapons derived from technology used by the Beetle and Turbo, Skybolt can fly and fire an array of both lethal and non-lethal projectiles from his wrist-mounted gauntlets. He is also armored in an osmium alloy, making him durable enough to act as a human battering ram.[2]
Before losing his mutant powers, Redneck had the superhuman ability to generate intense heat from his hands.[2]

Born Vincent Stewart, the mutant Redneck could generate thermokinetic energy from his hands and set flames to anything he touched. Falling in line with Quinten Quire's ideology that the mission of Charles Xavier was fallacious, he too rioted with his Omega Gang peers during Open Day. Subdued by Cyclops, he would serve his sentence as his team did, as well as lose his mutant abilities. Given the opportunity to join the newest incarnation of the New Warriors, he would take up a technological flight suit that was loosely based off the suit of the Beetle and take up the name, Skybolt.

During the Riot at Xavier's storyline, Quentin Quire and his band of rogue young mutants staged a rebellion against the peacekeeping ways of the Xavier School and its doting Professor. Quentin, alongside his "Omega Gang," had abandoned Xavier's teaching to embrace Magneto's vehement anti-human sentiment. While enacting their childish rebellion against the prestigious mutant academy, Quire enlists his cohorts, Glob Herman and Redneck/Skybolt, to aid in the resistance against Xavier.
