Locally known as Red's, Red Lerille's Health & Racquet Club is a large fitness facility founded in the 1960s in Lafayette, Louisiana. The club began on site after its founder secured land in 1965 and expanded from a modest gym into a “muscle mecca” featuring indoor and outdoor courts, pools and tracks.[1][2]

Spanning 20 acres and 212,400 sq. ft., the facility has a wide range of amenities including sport courts (basketball, tennis, racquetball, pickleball), indoor and outdoor pools, jogging tracks and multiple weight/training areas. Its evolution started from a bodybuilding gym into a full‐service health and racquet club over the years.[3]

Historically, the club has been driven by continuous expansion and reinvestment. Red Lerille, the founder, pledged to “make an improvement every month,” leading to ongoing growth and diversification of services over decades.[4] Reportedly, Joe Gold, the founder of Gold's Gym, was an early mentor to Red and may have influenced his business mindset laying the foundation for the club's success.[5][6]
