Posh is an American event management and ticketing platform founded in 2019 and headquartered in New York City. The platform focuses on small to medium-sized events and offers tools for event organizers to create, manage, and promote live experiences.[1][2]
History
Posh was founded in 2019 by Avante Price and Eli Taylor-Lemire, who met during Avante’s sophomore and Eli’s freshman year at New York University while freelancing at events in New York City.[1][3] Price and Taylor-Lemire initially started Posh as an events company after becoming frustrated with their experiences working part-time in New York City nightclubs.[4] The company began by hosting small events for college students and young professionals in New York.[1]
The two founders built the first version of Posh in their dorm room and officially launched the platform in beta in October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, transitioning from an events company to an event management and ticketing platform.[1][5][6]
In October 2023, Posh launched the consumer-facing mobile application featuring a vertical scrolling interface similar to TikTok, allowing users to discover events.[2] In 2024, Posh introduced a "For You" feed that curates events based on user connections and attendance history.[2]
Funding
Posh had raised $1.5 million by May 2021.[4] In April 2023, Posh announced its public launch alongside a $5 million seed funding round co-led by Companyon Ventures and EPIC Ventures, with participation from Day One Ventures, Pareto Holdings, Cameron Dallas, Joshua Browder (founder of DoNotPay), and others.[1][3][7][8] At the time of the seed round, the company reported having over 500,000 users and $30 million in processed ticket sales.[1]
In July 2024, Posh raised $22 million in Series A funding led by Goodwater Capital, with participation from FirstMark Capital, Companyon Ventures, and Epic Ventures.[2][9][10] This brought the company's total funding to $31 million.[11] At the time of the Series A announcement, Posh reported 2 million registered users and $95 million in lifetime ticket sales processed through its platform.[11]
Business model
The platform charges event organizers no direct fees but charges a 10% fee plus $0.99 per ticket sold to attendees.[2]
Posh positions itself as a "Shopify for all events," focusing on providing infrastructure for independent event organizers rather than competing directly with platforms that handle large-scale concerts and festivals.[1] The platform supports approximately 5,000 events per month, with a focus on intimate gatherings ranging from small birthday parties to events,[2] and processes roughly 350,000 bookings monthly.[2]
As of July 2024, marketplace app orders accounted for 12% of total ticket orders, up from 6% in January 2024.[2] Posh has a particular strength in New York City, where it reports that one in ten college students has booked an event through the platform.[6]
Recognition
In December 2025, co-founders Avante Price and Eli Taylor-Lemire were named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2026 in the Marketing & Advertising category, recognizing their work in building the event platform.[5]
