Johannesburg, the financial centre of South Africa

The economy of South Africa is currently the largest economy in Africa as of October 2025. It is a mixed economy, emerging market, and upper-middle-income economy, and one of only eight such countries in Africa. The economy is the most industrialised, technologically advanced, and diversified in Africa.

Cape Town, SA's second-largest city by population, serves as Africa's tech hub, has a large startup community, and is popular among digital nomads. The city is home to hundreds of tech firms, and is referred to as the "Startup Capital of Africa". (Full article...)
