Overview

The series was published between 2007 and 2009 by the Beijing-based Tibetan-language publishing house China Tibetology Publishing House (Krung go’i bod rig pa dpe skrun khang). It comprises 59 volumes, organized into several major sections: Volumes 1–10: rNgog chos skor phyogs bsgrigs (10 vols.), a collection of tantric commentaries by various masters of the Ngog Kagyu (rngog bka' brgyud) tradition; Volumes 11–17: Dus 'khor 'grel mchan phyogs bsgrigs (7 vols.), a compilation of annotated commentaries on the Kalacakra Tantra; Volumes 18–45: Bu ston Rin chen grub kyi gsung 'bum (28 vols.), the collected works of Buton Rinchen Drub (1290–1364), including two volumes (44–45) containing texts by his student Dratsepa Rinchen Namgyel (sGra tshad pa Rin chen rnam rgyal; 1318–1388).[1]; Volumes 46–55: rJe btsun Tā ra nā tha’i gsung ’bum bris ma (10 vols.), the collected works of the Jonang master Jetsun Taranatha (1575–1634); Volumes 56–59: Bo dong phyogs las rnam rgyal gsung ’bum gsar rnyed (4 vols.), reproductions of several newly discovered works of Bodong Penchen Chogle Namgyel (bo dong phyogs las rnam rgyal; 1376–1451). An additional companion volume provides a karchag (catalog/index).[2]

According to the tibetologists Orna Almogi & Dorji Wangchuk the series contains books

that differ in content but are all of great calligraphic and palaeographic value (or in some other way aesthetically rare or unique)[3].
