Philip James Abner (born May 5, 2002) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2025.
Career
A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Abner played college baseball at the University of Florida. In 2022, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League and was named a league all-star.[1]
The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Abner in the sixth round of the 2023 Major League Baseball draft.[2] Abner was called up to the majors for the first time on September 18, 2025.[3] He would make his debut the following day against the Philadelphia Phillies, pitching for 2⁄3 innings while letting up one hit and striking out both Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh.[4]
